BuildRight is the Pacific NW’s premiere annual residential building science conference and expo. BuildRight brings builders, HVAC, design, and industry professionals together to discuss advancements in energy-efficient building practices and workforce development in residential new construction and remodeling. 2025 BuildRight Conference + Expo takes place April 30 + May 1, 2025, and features new partners and expanded programming including two keynote speakers and two-days of quality content and dynamic sessions!

Gord Cooke, P.E.
Gord is a Partner with Construction Instruction Inc. Gord is a professional engineer with over 30 years of experience in the low and high-rise residential building industry. As an educator, industry consultant, and much-sought presenter, Gord has a unique talent for taking the building science issues that he sees in the field and presenting them in an easily understood and practical real-world manner. Gord has particular expertise in applied building science, energy-efficient housing initiatives, innovative HVAC systems, ventilat ion, and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). He has developed and delivered a multitude of workshops in these fields, as well as sales and marketing courses for builders and real estate agents to help them best promote the features and benefits of high-performance houses.
Glenn started construction in 1998 as a laborer and carpenter’s apprentice, which evolved into framing houses and building decks, and later operating his own remodeling and deck-construction company. He then spent 13 years working for the City of Westminster, Colorado as a building, plumbing and mechanical inspector and plan reviewer, and in 2007 earned a Master Code Professional certification from the International Code Council. During this time, he also worked as a freelance writer, educator, and consultant in codes. Glenn has authored over 100 technical articles in the “Professional Deck Builder”, the “Journal of Light Construction”, “Fine Homebuilding”, “Building Safety Journal”, as well as the International Code Council’s book, “Deck Construction Based on the 2009 International Residential Code”, including a second edition based on the 2021 IRC. In 2011 he became an advisor to the North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA), where he assisted the association with code-related initiatives and the Master Deck Professional Code certification program. He was active in the development of the 2015, 2021, and 2024 IRC, representing the decking industry. Glenn also works as a construction code educator, with audiences ranging from contractors to building officials at both public and private events. He was awarded as the 2021 Educator of the Year by the International Code Council. He is the creator of BuildingCodeCollege.com, where he is actively working to grow a catalog of on-demand courses. In 2018, Glenn left the City of Westminster to commit full-time to teaching, writing, and consulting in code. Glenn is a new author in the “CodeCheck” series and the ICC’s “Residential Code Essentials” publication. As a consultant he assists Colorado jurisdictions in code updates, amendments, and education, and he is part of the team of experts behind the State’s construction code helpline.
The Energy & Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA), in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the BuildRight Conference + Expo, is excited to host a pre-conference training event titled “How to Build a Zero Energy Ready Home” in Portland, Oregon, at the Redd on Salmon on Tuesday, April 29. If a conflict arises and you will be unable to attend BuildRight, cancel by April 11 for a full refund minus a $75 administrative fee. Effective April 12, all registrations for the BuildRight Conference + Expo are non-refundable and cannot be canceled. Due to limited space and high demand, we are unable to accommodate cancellations or refunds after this date.
