Long-time Building Official for the City of Beaverton, Brad Roast, will retire from the city on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. In order to fill the vacancy left behind by Brad, HBA staff accepted an invitation to participate in an interview panel to identify qualified candidates for the vacant building official role with the city. Brad is a respected professional in the building community and many members of our association have expressed a great deal of sadness at his departure. Brad is known for his dedication to finding solutions to problems and always working to get to “yes”, and educating, before enforcing the building code. The Building Department under Brad’s leadership has been an exemplary public service entity. The first step in the interview panel was a day long interview process, which included internal and external candidates with a variety of skills and positive qualities. The interview panel identified several candidates to move on to the next round of interviews.
