Whether duplex through quadplex, townhome, or cottage cluster, new housing types are coming to Oregon and our Metro region. After a half-century hiatus, Oregon cities are bringing “middle” housing back into residential neighborhoods as they respond to new state laws and the changing needs of our communities.
But how will this housing be built? Join HBA, Metro and the Build Small Coalition to learn about various incentives and tools available for building and encouraging middle housing development at a variety of price points. Industry and policy experts will cover Senate Bill 458 (Expedited Land Division), Condominium Mapping Options, Construction Financial Products, and System Development Charge Deferral and Tax Abatement Incentives.
Speakers include:
Richard Kassebaum, Bluestone Homes Karna Gustafson, Vial Fotheringham LLP Jesse Russell, Hiatus Homes Susan Brown, CoreSGB Sean Edging, Department of Land Conservation and Development
Tigard Mayor Jason Snider will introduce the webinar and share insights on how the city's policies will ensure that they continue to move forward on their goals to house all residents. Tigard is a diverse community of over 54,000 people that has been at the vanguard of housing policy in Oregon. Mayor Snider has been a champion for housing equity and access throughout his career in public service, from serving on the City Council in 2018 when it re-legalized middle housing to overseeing the adoption of the city's first Affordable Housing Plan as Tigard's Mayor.
This is a free event with content underwritten by HBA of Metro Portland and Metro as a service to middle housing champions industry-wide. The webinar will be held virtually via Zoom, and the information for joining the meeting will be emailed to you with your registration confirmation. View the event flyer here.
