Lake Oswego Agrees with HBA on Setback Exemptions for All Steeply Sloped Lots

Earlier this month, the Lake Oswego City Council voted to approve clean-up amendments to their community development code. In a letter, HBA thanks the city for adopting an exemption to the side yard setback plane for all steeply-sloped lots. While a previous ordinance had exempted steeply up-sloped lots from the side yard setback plane criteria, the new ordinance applies the same criteria to all steeply-sloped lots. The ordinance benefits homebuyers, as houses will include more functional living space, particularly on upper levels. Additionally, the exemption, which allows for streamlined building design, will reduce water leaks and energy loss,  supporting the long-term viability of homes.
