Following robust advocacy from HBA and our members, North Plains City Council voted 6-1 in favor of expanding its urban growth boundary at their September 5th meeting. This would make sizable expansions of development-ready lands, as well as offer a real opportunity for the city to adopt a vision for growth that includes both residential and employment land. As a reminder, this request will add 167 acres of residential lands into the UGB, which could include nearly 1,000 new units. Next, the city will hold a 2nd reading and vote on September 18th where it is anticipated that they will affirm their earlier decision. Following this City-initiated step, the expansion request will move to Washington County's planning commission and board of commissioners for further consideration. Those meetings are likely to begin as early as October. We urge members working in Washington County to register to testify or draft a quick message of support to city officials. See how to testify below… Testimony can be submitted by mail, e-mail or in person: Subject Line: “City File CPA 23-056(1) & (2) – North Plains Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) Amendment and Comprehensive Plan Text Amendment” MAIL: 31360 NW Commercial Street, North Plains, OR 97133 E-MAIL: steve.miller@northplains.org IN-PERSON: 30975 NW Hillcrest St, North Plains, OR 97133 on September 18th at 7pm
