The City of Sherwood has submitted a HAPO exemption application, which is currently on hold pending public comment. HBA urges members who have worked in jurisdictions seeking exemptions to submit comments on their experiences to the HAPO office. It is important that if a city process is failing or inhibiting housing construction that HAPO knows about it so that they can either reject an exemption or impose a condition that will help to relieve the problem. HBA staff will send out an alert when the Sherwood comment deadline opens. You can view a map detailing exemption requests and outcomes or conditions placed by HAPO on local jurisdictions here. Oregon City’s public comment period closed on September 1, with a decision coming before the end of the year. Expect an update when that decision is issued.
