In a letter earlier this month, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) - as part of a broad based construction coalition - called on Congress to support renters and builders as part of future COVID-19 response legislative packages. Specifically, the coalition asked that congressional leadership support providing direct rental payment assistance to multifamily properties on behalf of renters impacted by COVID-19, expanding federal mortgage forbearance for multifamily properties, and expanding the Small Business Administration's Paycheck Protection Program so all housing firms are eligible for relief. NAHB’s previous work ensured that the federal government recognized homebuilding as a critical industry.
