At the Oregon Home Builders Association (OHBA) Government Relations Committee last Friday, members discussed our legislative priorities for the 2019 session. Over the coming months leading up to session, we will work in partnership with OHBA leadership to develop policies and strategies for these issue areas: Construction defect reform Cost of housing issues, to include SDC's Permtting certainty and timeliness Jurisdictional utility processes, infrastructure requirements and the associated costs Ensuring flexibility with infill development, such as duplexes, triplexes and narrow lot development Regional land use Use of private building inspectors As the region continues to face a housing crises related to both inventory and affordability, the HBA will play a critical role in affecting positive policy change to allow for the production of more housing at more affordable rates.
