HBA Director of Policy and Government Affairs Ryan Makinster recently participated in a “Cost of Housing in Yamhill County” Summit organized by Yamhill County Commissioner Casey Kulla, email@example.com. The meeting, attended by over 40 stakeholders from across Yamhill county, included elected officials, city and county staff, residential construction business owners and representatives, housing advocates and land use specialists. It provided a venue for open dialogue between groups looking to address the housing crisis plaguing our region with an understanding that Yamhill County, with available land and housing friendly policies, will play an important role in addressing the problem. Makinster highlighted the need to keep policies flexible and that with every new requirement, standard or prohibition on land use or building practices, added cost is inevitable which affects overall affordability.
