Join us for our annual Women in Construction Happy Hour at the NW Natural Street of Dreams as we gather with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and other women’s councils focused on the construction and trade industry. 

 

We have two fabulous women joining us to share their stories and some great information about the current residential industry and trends. 

 

Nina Carlson oversees NW Natural’s government affairs and economic development for the metro region, with a focus on energy policy, economic development and land use. A graduate from University of Washington (go Huskies!), who started her career as a local real estate broker, selling homes and negotiating land sales. Her career expanded into marketing and client relations representing multiple builders and managing multiple new construction communities. She has been with NW Natural’s since 2016, working with jurisdictions on energy, climate and land use issues ensuring our region remains a vibrant place with many housing options.  She currently sits on the HBA board, Metro’s technical advisory committee and chairs HBA’s Government Affairs committee and uses her experience on several boards and taskforces around the metro area.

Nina knows the challenges that women face in this industry as well as the amazing benefits of careers for women in the construction industry, and those supporting and advocating for the industry, and why women are so important in this space. Her story will be very inspiring and spur great conversation about how the role of women in the construction industry is evolving as more women get involved and what support is needed to keep increasing the number of women in our industry.

 

Laura Regester, National Account Representative with New Construction at Zillow, will tell us about how Zillow prioritizes equity/belonging and equal pay, and how important that is at Zillow. She will also share actionable insights that our builders and building partners can use to support everything from product development to sales and marketing strategy from the data from their annual Consumer Housing Trends Report, which focuses on how new construction homebuyers have evolved over recent years, including their wants/needs, behaviors/trends and what we can expect to see from them in the coming years.
