Earlier this month, HBA members and staff met with Washington County Land Use and Transportation staff to discuss proposed changes to accessory dwelling unit regulations and ideas to promote market driven affordable units. Members shared their experience developing and building non-traditional housing typologies and identified key choke points in the building process that the County must address if it wants to encourage low-income housing. This meeting is part of a broader engagement strategy that provides HBA members with opportunities to engage with key personnel long before proposals come before the County Board of Commissioners for adoption. Through engagement and discussion, the industry is best able to help shape pro-housing regulation and ensure that the County advances ordinances that align with our goal of supporting housing access and affordability.
