The Canby City Council is preparing to deliberate on the City’s draft Housing Needs Analysis (HNA), which identifies a significant need for high density residential development. HBA supports the HNA’s policy recommendation to change the Willamette Valley Country Club Comprehensive Plan land use designation from (PR-Private Recreation) to align with its current zone (R-1, Low Density Residential). At the same time, we also encourage the City to identify additional land for residential development in order to ensure that builders can continue to build much-needed housing. In addition to reviewing the HNA, the City Council is taking steps to advance increased opportunity for missing middle housing and is considering zoning code changes to encourage townhomes throughout the City. Planning staff has agreed to future builder stakeholder meetings to address housing industry issues as they arise.
