Following a strategy session on construction-related crime prevention with HBA members and staff earlier this month, Happy Valley staff updated the City Council on next steps regarding Council’s 2019 Private Security for Development priority. Staff recommended the City Council consider a crime prevention program rooted in ongoing and systematic input from the development and building industries. The Council conceptually approved the program, which will consist of reasonable, cost-effective site security best practices that will enhance safety and decrease crime. In coordination with HBA, city staff will begin the program design phase with the goal of launching this summer. HBA appreciates the opportunity to join Happy Valley in a pro-housing and solution-oriented stance against construction crime.
