The 2020 election will be critical to the home building industry. Throughout the months of February and March, HBA is interviewing over thirty-five candidates running for local and regional elected office throughout the Portland region. For the upcoming May primary elections, HBA is interviewing candidates for Metro, Clackamas and Washington counties, and the cities of Beaverton and Portland. Because housing and land use are local issues, these leaders will help shape the conversation on housing regionally in the coming years. HBA’s Government Affairs Committee will make endorsement decisions based on these interviews, and in some cases, contribute to candidates through our political action committee, Oregonians for Affordable Housing (OFAH). Through OFAH, HBA is able to support housing and business-friendly candidates. This support helps us to strengthen relationships with our region’s policy-makers, allowing us to work together to address housing, transportation, and business related issues. Upcoming candidate interviews are scheduled for February 21st, 24th, and 27th. For more information about OFAH or to participate in the candidate interview process, contact Ezra Hammer at ezrah@hbapdx.org. Next Article Previous Article
