As part of a broad based Portland metropolitan region construction industry coalition, the HBA urged the city to take action to support the construction sector. In a letter to Mayor Wheeler, the coalition urged several specific actions, providing the Bureau of Development Services with the resources it needs to operate at peak capacity, expanding the use of video, photo and other electronic inspections, and holding off on any development related fee increases for six months. Since Oregon will soon be looking for ways to bolster its economy following this pandemic, it is critical that the city take steps to ensure that the construction industry can continue to operate through these difficult times.
