Primary election night saw Beaverton and Wilsonville voters pass impactful city charter reform. Beaverton’s Measure 34-298, enacts multi-faceted changes, creating a full-time city manager position, expanding the number of council seats from five to seven, and granting a mayoral vote. In Wilsonville, voters passed Measure 3-556, which establishes a maximum 12-year threshold within a 20-year period for serving on City Council. The measure is retro-active, meaning that it applies to currently-sitting councilors. At HBA’s recent Government Affairs Committee meeting, members connected with Beaverton Councilor Mark Fagin and Wilsonville Councilor Ben West on these reforms. HBA will continue to maintain a proactive response to the assured city council and administrative shifts, and engage with local decision-makers around land use and housing.
