Earlier this year, the City of Sandy adopted HBA-proposed code amendments requiring 5G / small cell infrastructure providers to relocate their poles and vaults in a timely manner when city standards trigger right-of-way improvements. Because both public and private entities construct these improvements, it is important to establish clear expectations for how small cell infrastructure providers must manage their facilities in a way that does not hinder new housing production. These changes are part of HBA’s strategic multi-year effort to work with local jurisdictions as they update their right-of-way development standards in order to permit 5G telecommunication infrastructure.
