During the recent HBA 2022 Housing Forecast, Tigard Mayor Jason Snider was awarded the Ernie Platt award. Mayor Snider was recognized for his strong housing advocacy over many years, focusing on ways to address housing affordability through regulatory certainty, permitting efficiency and cost neutral solutions to minimize holding costs. During his acceptance speech, Snider highlighted the work, to date, of Tigard officials and staff to support housing development and the work they continue to do. He was quick to point out that it was a team effort that would not have been possible without the shared vision and efforts of his fellow elected officials and the Tigard city staff. Established in 2020, the Ernie Platt Memorial Public Servant Award is given annually in honor and memory of Ernie Platt, a housing advocate who recognized the importance of the work local elected leaders have on housing in our region. Snider is the second recipient of the award which was awarded in its inaugural year to Washington County Commissioner Roy Rogers.
