The City of Milwaukie will be hosting a housing forum addressing the barriers and solutions to achieving equitable and affordable housing in Milwaukie on Thursday, December 6th from 6 – 8pm at Clackamas Community College. The discussion will include national and local experts, and is the first part of a series on housing in Milwaukie as part of the City’s Housing Affordability Strategy and Comprehensive Plan Update. Panelists will include Dr. Richard Rothstein, a Distinguished Fellow of the Economic Policy Institute and the author of The Color of Law, Dr. Marisa Zapata, Director of Homelessness Research and Action Collaborative, and an Associate Professor and Land use planning at PSU, Dr. Matthew Gebhardt, Assistant Professor of Urban Studies and Planning at PSU, and Allan Lazzo, Executive Director of the Fair Housing Council of Oregon. The forum will cover the history of zoning and impacts on housing and discuss the tools and policies that can help Milwaukie accomplish its housing goals.
