Open City Councilor and Mayoral positions will be available for appointment this summer, for fulfillment through the end of 2020. Tualatin Councilor Joelle Davis stepped down in May, and Wilsonville Councilor Susie Stevens will transition at the end of June 2019 to pursue other opportunities. Both cities are currently developing their processes to collect and review applications for the position and set the anticipated timeline. In Wilsonville, the position will be posted for 30 days on the city’s website. After the deadline, the Mayor and Council President will screen the applications to determine which candidates will receive an interview before the full Council. Council stated a desire to have the position filled on or before the second meeting in August. In a similar manner, Hood River Mayor Paul Blackburn will resign in September 2019. The City Council will publish a notice of vacancy and invite applications from interested candidates prior to conducting interviews and voting to select a candidate to fill the remainder of Blackburn’s term, through the end of 2020. The HBA invites suggestions and discussions on these appointed positions. To weigh in on these 2019 appointments and 2020 priority races, contact Ezra Hammer at ezrah@hbapdx.org.
