Oregon City News recently published HBA’s letter to the editor supporting Oregon City’s two water ballot measures, following two Commissioner letters, written by Denyse McGriff and Adam Marl, along with engineer and an HBA-fellow Water Environment Services Advisory Committee member’s letter last week. Earlier this year, HBA endorsed the two interrelated water infrastructure funding measures on which residents are currently voting; Measure 3-576 would enable the city to borrow money for water infrastructure improvements, while Measure 3-578 would authorize the city to temporarily increase water rates beyond the 3% cap allowed by charter. HBA supports the measures because they will allow Oregon City to complete projects earlier, preventing more costly maintenance issues, and save existing and future ratepayer dollars over time.
